Why One Dealership Relies on Dashboards in IntelliDealer™
to Improve Receivables

The owners of Bobcat of Atlanta acquired the dealership in 2009, but were no strangers to the dealership business. More than 40 years of experience led the management team and Managing Member Scott Easterwood to change the dealer management system (DMS) from Microsoft Navision to IntelliDealer.

“We explored several options, but CDK presented a complete package that had been refined over the years—one that met all of our needs and was backed by a good support group. We went live with IntelliDealer in January 2013,” says Easterwood.

Seamless Implementation Lets Employess Shorten Learning Curve

Bobcat of Atlanta found that its employees were eager to learn the new system and, according to Easterwood, “the implementation was flawless; we never skipped a beat.”

Today, Easterwood notes, “It seems like we’ve been on CDK forever. It’s easy to do our day-to-day and end-of-day processes, and we’re pleased with the overall ease of use. Whether they’re on the Parts counter or in accounting, employees have said they’re finding CDK very easy to use.”

Dashboards Lead to New Conversations with Customers

Bobcat of Atlanta has come to rely on the Dashboards within IntelliDealer. “It was a new feature to us and one we were looking for. The Dashboards keep certain information, such as receivables aging, at our fingertips. Even people who aren’t responsible for collections feel compelled to look at that information because it’s right there,” says Easterwood.

That natural curiosity has led to greater awareness for account receivables at Bobcat of Atlanta. “When we can all see which accounts are slipping into aging, employees notice when their customers are not paying and that changes the nature of discussions. It opens the opportunity to talk to people and we’re seeing improvements in this category,” says Easterwood.

Another “game changer” for Bobcat of Atlanta has been the ability to see the sales and revenue numbers on the Dashboard. According to Easterwood, “We could get the information before but it was difficult and not something you wanted to do every day. Now, those numbers are right in front of us and that keeps the interest up.”

Easterwood says he also appreciates the ease of creating reports within IntelliDealer and getting the necessary intelligence to make better business decisions—a key goal Bobcat of Atlanta had when it needed a new DMS.

“We knew there were a lot of systems on the market that would let us sell parts and equipment, repair machines, and bill customers. We really needed the information system, though, and not just a bookkeeping system. We know that we’re seeing a return on investment,” Easterwood concludes.
