How the CDK Dashboard Helps PrairieCoast Equipment Make Business Decisions with Quick, Easy Access to Reports.

PrairieCoast Equipment takes pride in making it easy for customers to do business with any of its dealerships, and works hard to make sure customers feel appreciated and valued.

General Manager Dennis Landis says that commitment has helped PrairieCoast Equipment grow its business for nearly 40 years. “We recently completed a large, four-complex merger, but during that process, we recognized that our existing business system would need to change in order for us to maintain that commitment to our customers. We selected IntelliDealer as our new business information system, and saw that migration as an opportunity to strengthen our ability to put the merger together.

Today, Landis credits the CDK Dashboard as being particularly instrumental in helping him and all PrairieCoast Equipment managers make informed business decisions with quick, easy access to necessary dealership reports. “Since the merger, I don’t have the ability to be as hands-on as I used to be; with ten locations across 1,200 miles, I just can’t be in each individual store the way I used to be. Now, though, 18 months after having access to CDK Dashboard reports, I have access—in real time—to all the reports I need to understand how our entire business is operating.”

Landis says that he can review all the necessary dealership information in “as little as five minutes. Or, I can spend an hour if I choose to do so. But the Dashboard lets me see very quickly exactly what’s going on at every store, in every department, for every salesperson. Not only can I tell what happened, but with a single click, I can open a transaction, watch expenses, see where checks are going. It’s all at your fingertips.”

Whereas running reports used to take PrairieCoast Equipment hours, Landis says that all the details “are instant now. It used to take a lot of time to create reports, and then we would make decisions based on trends and assumptions. And, we had to run those reports based on time frames we couldn’t control. The Dashboard, though, lets us choose any date range we want, so we have more control over the ways we analyze information, and that helps us make better decisions.”

And because Landis is more mobile now than he used to be, he says he really appreciates the fact that the CDK Dashboard is available to him wherever he has an internet connection. “I can be in any PrairieCoast Equipment location and access the Dashboard. Actually, I can work in an airport or even in my car, as long as I have 3G,” he concludes.
